Refrigerated Display Cases
Product has to look good and stay legal. A case that fails at either one is costing you money.
The Air Curtain Is the Whole Machine
An open refrigerated case works by projecting a curtain of cold air across its opening. That curtain is fragile. Overstock the case above the load line, block the return air grille with a display, aim a rooftop diffuser at the case opening, or let the honeycomb straightener get damaged, and the curtain breaks down — warm store air spills in, the case runs continuously, and product at the front sits several degrees warmer than the sensor thinks it does.
This is why case complaints so often survive a compressor replacement. The refrigeration was never the problem. The airflow was.
Store conditions matter too. High humidity in the sales area drives condensation, frost on glass doors, sweating case frames, and heavier defrost loads. A case that behaves fine in winter and fogs over every August is usually telling you something about the building, not the case.
Display Case Services
Air Curtain & Airflow
Discharge and return air velocity, honeycomb condition, load line compliance, and the store airflow that may be destroying the curtain from outside.
Discharge Air Temperature
Cases are diagnosed on discharge air temperature and product temperature, not on a display reading somebody adjusted last week.
Case Controllers
Electronic case controller configuration, superheat control, sensor faults, and communication to the rack or store system.
Defrost Systems
Electric, off-cycle, and hot gas defrost — initiation, termination, and drain. Too little defrost ices the coil; too much warms the product.
Anti-Sweat & Door Heaters
Anti-sweat heater and controller service on glass doors and case frames — the difference between clear glass and a customer who walks past.
Case Lighting & Glass
Case lighting, ballast/driver, gasket, and door hardware service. Merchandising failures are refrigeration failures with a sales impact.
