The Highest-Consequence Refrigeration in the Building

A parallel rack ties multiple compressors to a common suction manifold and feeds an entire store’s worth of cases and walk-ins. It is efficient, it stages elegantly against load, and it concentrates risk: a failure at the rack does not take out one case, it threatens every fixture on that suction group at once.

Rack work is therefore as much about system health as about broken parts. Oil management, suction pressure control, condenser performance, and refrigerant charge all interact. A rack limping along on three compressors instead of four is not "still working" — it is running the survivors harder, hotter, and closer to their own failure.

Racks also hold a very large refrigerant charge, which puts them squarely inside the EPA Section 608 leak-repair regime. A chronic rack leak is simultaneously an operating expense, a compliance exposure, and a reliability problem.

Pull the Data

Rack controller history first: suction and discharge pressures, compressor run hours and cycle counts, case temperatures, defrost history, and alarm log. The rack has usually been documenting its own decline for months.

Compressor & Oil Health

Run hours and cycling per compressor, oil levels and return, and oil analysis where warranted. Uneven run hours across a rack is a staging or capacity problem hiding in plain sight.

Condenser & Head Pressure

Condenser condition, fan operation, and head pressure strategy measured under real ambient. A fouled condenser in a Texas summer raises energy cost on every compressor on the rack simultaneously.

Suction Group & Fixture Balance

Case discharge air temperatures and EPR settings across the suction group, to find the one fixture whose problem is being masked by dragging the entire group colder than it needs to run.

Leak Survey

A large-charge system that requires regular topping off is leaking. We find it, repair it, and document it rather than treating refrigerant as a consumable.
